Good Data Assembly: “The future of genomic data sharing”

Building on the success of our first Good Data Assembly (theme: microtargeting), we’re excited to share that our second Good Data Assembly event will be themed around the future of genomic data sharing.

Participants in this Good Data Assembly will have the chance to hear from and dialogue with two experts within this area:

  • Dr. Heidi Rehm, Chief Genomics Officer at Massachusetts General Hospital and Co-Director of the Program in Medical and Population Genetics at the Broad Institute

  • Dr. Richard Milne, Head of Research and Dialogue in Wellcome Connecting Science and Deputy Director of the Kavli Centre for Ethics, Science and the Public at the University of Cambridge.

This event will be taking place virtually on 20 October 2022 at 6:30pm GMT. For more information or to sign-up to take part, click here.

About the theme

Recent scientific advancements have lead to more genetic and genomic data being gathered - for use in a range of medical, research and industry settings. This data is a fundamental building block of who we are, and understanding of how it can be applied or used is evolving rapidly.

Given the fast development of the field, implications of its use have not been subject to significant scrutiny by the public, policymakers, and industry stakeholders until recently. Hence, this initiative will enable participants to step back from existing structures to reflect on the potential benefits and risks of its use.

About Good Data Assembly

The Good Data Assembly is an interactive online event bringing together experts and the public to deliberate and vote on some of the most pressing issues of our time within the data economy. More information on this event and the Good Data Assembly joint initiative is available here.
